UT Knoxville is unique—different than other colleges
and universities in our state, the Southern region, our nation, and
the world. As UT communicators, it’s our job to help prospective
students, faculty, and staff see and understand the things that
make UT different from the rest. It’s also our job to communicate
the university’s unique position to legislators
and public officials
so that we can continue to offer distinctive programs and services.
And we share UT’s successes with alumni and other friends
who also are in the position to support the university. In short, our
role is to showcase the University of Tennessee, Knoxville—and
make it stand out from the crowd.
The goal of this website is to provide a shared approach that all UT communicators can use to craft consistent and compelling messages about the university. Four overarching communications goals are at the center of this framework. The framework outlines target audiences, key message points, core imagery and visuals, tone, and other creative considerations. Within this framework, you’ll find ample room for the adaptation, the creativity, and the diverse viewpoints that will keep our stories fresh and add texture to our communications; but UT communicators working within these parameters will continue to build and solidify UT Knoxville’s unified brand and image.
